About the Teacher:
Jennifer Preston is excited to join the BGHS family as the Social Studies Department Lead and campus Gifted Specialist, where she will also teach IB History of the Americas. With 12 years of teaching experience in History, Human Geography, ELA, and World Cultures, she is passionate about inspiring curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering academic growth in all learners, especially gifted and high-achieving students.
Known for her high energy, creativity, and student-centered approach, Mrs. Preston incorporates strategies tailored to gifted learners, including depth and complexity, open-ended inquiry, and exploring historical views from multiple perspectives. She believes in creating a classroom culture that challenges students to think deeply, make connections across disciplines, and take ownership of their learning, essential skills for our gifted learners and success in the IB program.
When not at school, Mrs. Preston enjoys hiking, being a football mom, and reading. She is fascinated with exploring our world and taking students to experience other countries and cultures. Mrs. Preston has been to many islands of the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Canada, France, Italy, and Greece. She will be visiting Spain and Portugal this coming summer.
Mrs. Preston looks forward to connecting with students and helping all learners reach their highest potential.
